Now celebrating its 15th year of exhibiting experimental contemporary art, Locust Projects is pleased to present the fourth year of a collaborative exhibition by a group of 25 South Florida High School students who apply through an open call. Under the direction of practicing contemporary artists Monica Lopez de Victoria of the TM Sisters and Loriel Beltran, students are given the opportunity to create a collaborative exhibition in a public venue and manage all aspects of its production in a three week summer intensive. Students participate in learning experiences focusing on contemporary art and studio methods, visit local art institutions on field trips, and interact with members of the art community during scheduled visits.
The final exhibition, developed in Locust Projects’ 5,000 square foot space in Miami’s Design District, culminates with an opening reception where students’ parents, teachers, and friends are invited to celebrate and mingle with Miami’s art community on Second Saturday Art Walk in July.
