Mapa Teatro, the Colombian interdisciplinary artistic group exploring issues of urbanism, power, the public sphere, and the archive, will present Archivo Vivo at the MDC Live Arts Lab.

Artists are often scapegoated when neighborhoods gentrify, but they also play a significant role in maintaining a community’s resilience. Colombian artist collective Mapa Teatro invites Miami locals to experience Archivo Vivo, a ‘live archive’ documenting the destruction of a Bogota neighborhood while inspiring site-specific, community driven projects with the neighborhood’s former displaced residents. Explore the parallels facing Miami in this invigorating lecture-performance.

In the belief that contemporary art and design can play vital roles in civic life, MOAD’s ongoing initiative, Museum Without Boundaries, expands out from the walls of the institution and into the city. Venturing beyond traditional exhibition formats to connect Miami residents to interdisciplinary art, design, performance, and public programs, Museum Without Boundaries encourages interaction and collaboration with local audiences and organizations, allowing a plurality of voices to engage in dialogue around pressing cultural and social issues. Museum Without Boundaries inspires alternative ways of relating to and thinking about art; it aims to spark relationships among people and places that foster a sense of belonging and inclusion.
